Madison County Sheriff’s Office investigating after deadly house fire

RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says it is conducting a death investigation following a fatal house fire that occurred Sunday evening. According to a Facebook post from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place on Barnes Mill Road around 8:00 p.m. Sunday night

The Madison County Fire Department, Richmond Fire Department, and Madison County EMS responded to the scene to battle the flames. During their efforts, according to the Facebook post, firefighters found a man inside and pulled him from the home.

The victim has been identified as Gregory Brackney, 69 years old. According to the post, Brackney was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the coroner.

Officials say Brackney’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.

The Sheriff’s Office says foul play isn’t suspected right now.
