Madison County Schools to hire safety monitors
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Madison County Public Schools will hire twenty, full-time security monitors to increase safety and security, according to the district.
Each school in the district will have at least one monitor; they won’t be armed, according to MCPS.
“This could be a really good idea, if you’re very selective on who you’re going to put in those positions and they need to have training,” said Jon Akers, Executive Director of the Kentucky Center for School Safety.
In April, the school district will begin paying the Richmond Police Department for up to three additional officers at each school for extra security through the end of the school year, according to officials.
The school district will host an open interview session for interested candidates April 10 at the school district office or people can apply online by clicking here.
