Madison County Public Schools not requiring masks to begin year

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Madison County Public Schools will not require masks be worn in school to begin the new school year, but the district is recommending they be worn, according to an online post from MCPS.

The school district is requiring masks be worn on school buses.

Social distancing of at least three-feet should be maintained in classrooms where not everyone is fully vaccinated to the extent it doesn’t negatively impact instruction, according to the district.

Physical distancing of at least six-feet should be practiced between students, teachers and staff and between unvaccinated teachers and staff, according to MCPS.

The school district is encouraging everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 18, 2021, according to the school district’s online calendar.
