Madison County man killed in car crash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Two people were killed in a multiple vehicle accident that police suspect was caused by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 40 West Saturday morning.

It happened east of the Old Hickory Boulevard exit in west Nashville around 2:30 a.m.

Officers are investigating if the wrong-way driver was travelling east when they entered the westbound exit at Old Hickory Boulevard.

The suspected wrong-way driver, 26-year old Devin C. Strong, died at the scene and two additional victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

The driver who was hit head-on, James R. Hall, 34, of Richmond, Kentucky, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died.

A third victim who was injured when he struck Strong’s vehicle was taken to Saint Thomas West with minor injuries. He has since been released.

Metro police told News 2 it is not known why Strong was traveling the wrong way on the interstate, but there was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene.
