“Sticker Shock” campaign launches in Madison County

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Madison County Youth In Action team, partnering with local law enforcement, conducted its 2015 Holiday Sticker Shock Campaign today.

The project raises awareness about underage drinking and aims to strengthen laws against providing alcohol to minors. Students placed bright yellow stickers on packs of beer, wine coolers, and other alcohol products at some Madison County stores.  The student volunteers were accompanied by uniformed law enforcement officers during the event.

Organizers say Youth In Action’s mission is to reduce the access of alcohol to youth under 21 years of age by targeting social and retail availability of alcohol and by supporting the enforcement of underage drinking laws. Madison County’s award-winning team was formed in 2006 and participates in a variety of project designed to raise public awareness about underage drinking.
