Madison Co. Sheriff’s Office mourning loss of Capt. Sam Manley

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of its own.

Capt. Sam Manley has died, the office said Tuesday evening in a Facebook post.

Manley served in law enforcement for 36 years.

He retired from the Richmond Police Department in 2005 after achieving the rank of assistant chief.

Manley joined the sheriff’s office in 2008 and served until he died.

In addition to his many years in law enforcement, he also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 26 years as a drill instructor with the 100th division before retiring in 1998 as a first sergeant.

“We humbly request for you to keep the family of Captain Sam Manley and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” the office asked.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
