Lynyrd Skynyrd signs whiskey bottles for fans ahead of concert
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — The popular southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd was back out in the Lexington community signing bourbon bottles on Thursday.
Band members Johnny Van Zant and Rickey Medlocke signed bottles of their Hell House Whiskey, at Total Wine and more, on Sir Barton Way.
The band’s whiskey is named after the cabin, where the original members created some of their iconic songs.
On Thursday, a long line of fans formed inside and out waiting to get their whiskey bottles signed.
“Lynyrd Skynyrd fans are so great and this gives us the opportunity to meet them on a personal level and sign these bottles for them, and even just sign anything, shake their hand, because everybody is different in all walks of life and this is just really great,” says Rickey Medlocke, the lead guitarist of Lynyrd Skynyrd on seeing their fans line up.
Johnny Van Zant, the singer of the group added, “our fans are hard working, God fearing people as we are, and we just love them and we look forward to seeing everyone here tonight, Lexington here, it’s been a great time so far.”
The Lynyrd Skynyrd concert, with ZZ Top and special guest Black Stone Cherry is Thursday night at 7:30 p.m., doors at Rupp Arena open at 6:45 p.m.
