Lt. Gov. Coleman endorses Cherlynn Stevenson in Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District race
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman is backing Democratic candidate Cherlynn Stevenson in one of Kentucky’s most closely watched congressional races.
Coleman officially endorsed Stevenson’s campaign for Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District during a press conference Tuesday at Commonwealth Pediatrics in Lexington.
The event also marked the start of Stevenson’s district-wide tour, where she plans to hold roundtable discussions and listening sessions with voters across the region.
During her remarks, Stevenson warned about potential threats to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act, saying proposed cuts could impact more than 26,000 people in the district.
“Our central Kentucky communities need a fighter who is relentless and will stand up against threats to healthcare,” Coleman said. “They deserve someone who can tune out all the politics and division to focus on what really matters.”
Stevenson is running in a competitive race that includes fellow Democrat David Kloiber and Republican State Senator Ryan Dotson.
