LSC falls to Louisville City FC in USL Championship season opener

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington Sporting Club took an early lead Friday night in front of the largest crowd in club history, but two second-half goals from Louisville City FC lifted the visitors to a 2-1 victory in the USL Championship season home opener.

Sixteen minutes into the match, Aaron Molloy, one of LSC’s marquee offseason signings, fired a long-range strike from well outside the box to give Lexington a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Louisville City responded in the second half, finding the back of the net in the 52nd and 85th minutes to secure all three points.

LSC will be back home next weekend to take on Sacramento Republic FC at 7 p.m.
