LPD UPDATE: Meth lab on Crosby Drive
LEXINGTON, KY. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say homes had to be evacuated and people decontaminated after a reported meth lab was found in an apartment on Crosby Drive on Thursday.
Police say an officer went to the apartment to serve a warrant, and found what looked like an active meth lab inside. Following standard protocol, the officer called the fire department and set up a Hazmat zone.
Police say five people and a dog were decontaminated, as well as the inside of the apartment. All five were taken into custody. Neighbors were eventually allowed back into their homes.
People in the neighborhood say it’s a quiet, family oriented neighborhood, and the appearance of a reported meth lab was shocking.
“There’s a school right behind us. Kids everywhere. It’s normally a quiet neighborhood. I don’t know how this has happened. I don’t like it.” Said neighbor Cynthia Lawson. Scott Wilson commented, “Too close to home. You hear about it on TV all the time, but it’s too close… two doors down from us.”
Police did not immediately release the names of any of the people who were arrested.
