LPD: Two overnight shootings on Winburn Drive not related

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two people were shot early Tuesday morning on Winburn Drive, according to police.

Officials say a man was shot in the leg while he was walking through a parking lot. The victim stated that the suspects were in a silver or grey passenger vehicle when they began to yell at him, according to investigators.

Police say the victim continued to walk through the area with he heard 5-7 shots and he felt pain in his foot and began to run from the area.

Investigators say about a half an hour later a different man was located on Winburn Drive with a gunshot wound to his leg.

It was later determined that he had been accidentally shot by an acquaintance and did not wish to pursue criminal charges, according to detectives.
Police say the two incidents do not appear to be related.
