LPD: Suspect bites corrections officer while being processed

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington corrections officer was sent to the hospital after a Nicholasville man, reportedly HIV-positive, bit the officer hard enough to break the skin, according to an arrest citation.

Officers say 23-year-old Dylan Cartwright was arrested early Saturday morning, just before 12:30 a.m. for outstanding warrants.

Police say as he was being processed at the detention center, Cartwright bit a corrections officer’s right arm intentionally, knowing that he was HIV-positive and had other blood pathogens.

Cartwright was charged with wanton endangerment and assault, along with probation violation.
