LPD still looking for answers in first homicide of 2016

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police are looking for information from the public in a homicide on New Year’s Day.

Officers say they still don’t have nay solid leads on what led to the death of 28-year-old Joseph Allen McDowell, who was found by a neighbor early on the morning of January 1st with multiple gunshot wounds in the 400 block of Roosevelt Boulevard.

Investigators say McDowell was lying on the ground in a driveway and near a truck when he was found. Police say he was rushed to University of Kentucky Hospital where he died.

Investigators continue looking into the circumstances that led to McDowell being shot, and are asking anyone with any information to please contact them.

The funeral and visitation has been set for McDowell. They will take place on Saturday at the Consolidated Baptist Church on Russel Cave Rd.  The visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral immediately following.
