LPD: Shoplifter’s getaway car struck officer

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — It began in a Speedway on North Broadway, when a man was caught leaving the store with items he did not pay for.

The man fled on foot, and Officer Wallace of the Lexington Police began to chase him. Police say a red, 4-door Nissan Sentra was waiting for the man, who got into the car.

The car struck the officer before fleeing the scene. Last seen on Toner street, the red Sentra had allegedly collided with a telephone pole before continuing on its way.

Officer Wallace had minor injuries, but was checked out of the hospital later that day.

If anyone has information, or saw this car, they are asked to contact the Lexington Police at (859) 258-3600
