LPD: Murder suspect arrested hours after warrant issued

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington police issued an arrest warrant on Tuesday for the person they say shot a man to death last week.

Just a few hours later, they had that suspect, 24-year-old Clarence Taylor, in custody.

Taylor is charged in connection with a February 19th murder at Camelot East.

Police were called to Saint Joseph East hospital the morning of the 19th about a man who was brought in with multiple gunshot wounds.

They say shortly before that call, dispatchers received a call about shots fired outside the Camelot East on Richmond Road.

Police say they learned the victim, 23-year-old Laroz Lee Mitchell, had been shot there.

Mitchell was transferred to the University of Kentucky hospital where he later died.

Police say witnesses at the scene told them Mitchell got into a fight inside the bar with Taylor then the two continued the fight outside.

Witnesses told police Taylor then shot Mitchell.
