LPD: Man tazed, arrested after assaulting officer

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – At 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, police were called to Newtown Pike, near Georgetown St. for a dispute between a man and a woman.

An officer said that, when he tried to get information from the man, the man became aggressive and charged toward the officer, pushing him into a fence. The officer said he used pepper spray on the man, and switched a stun gun when the spray was ineffective.

The stun gun worked, and police say Donald Dobson was arrested, charged with giving a false name, 3rd degree assault, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief for damage to the fence.

While police say the suspect was uninjured, EC was called to treat him for the pepper spray before moving him to the Detention Center.
