LPD: Man shot at gas station, suspect arrested

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Lexington police say a disorder at a gas station led to a shooting that left one man critically wounded and another under arrest. Police say it happened around 4:15 p.m. Monday at a Marathon station on Trent Boulevard.

Investigators say the victim is 34-year old Rory Snowden, Junior. They say he was pulled out of the back seat of a car at the gas station and was shot four times in the abdomen and once in the head.

Police say he was rushed to UK Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspected gunman tried to throw the weapon away at the scene as he ran from police.

Investigators say the gun was recovered and the suspect arrested. Police did not release the suspect’s name, but he is listed on the Fayette County Detention Center’s website as 21-year old Antonio Simpson.

Records show he was initially charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of a Handgun by a Felon.

Investigators hope to learn more about what happened when they watch surveillance video from the business.
