LPD: Man beat, drowned dog

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington man is accused of beating and drowning a small dog.

Court documents say 29-year-old Michael Hawkins threw the dog into a shallow pond at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Documents go on to say Hawkins then started beating the dog with a broom.

The animal died from its injuries.

Hawkins is charged with torture of a dog.
