LPD: Keeneland “pickpocket” arrested

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say they have the person responsible for a series of pickpocket thefts.

Detectives say over the past six months, they have been working on several pickpocket crimes in public places like Keeneland, Kroger, Meijer and Walmart.

They say the suspect then used credit cards stolen from those pickpocket crimes to buy pre-paid gift cards and gaming systems at Target, Best Buy and Walmart.

On Tuesday police announced the arrest of 53-year-old Christopher Kittrell, of Louisville.

Detectives say they knew Kittrell used Keeneland as a place to pickpocket and told Kenneland security to be on the lookout for him.

Security spotted him on Sunday and called Lexington Police.

Kittrell was arrested on outstanding warrants for several thefts in Louisville and Tennessee.

In addition to the warrants, Kittrell is now charged with several counts of pickpocketing, theft by unlawful taking, fraudulent use of a credit card and theft/receipt of a stolen credit card.

Detectives say the investigation is on-going.
