LPD: Driver arrested after almost striking officer’s cruiser

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man is in custody, accused of almost hitting a Lexington police officer.

Court documents say an officer spotted 26-year-old Ignacio Garcia driving in the middle of Alexandria Drive on Saturday.

The officer says the car in front of him drove off the road to avoid getting hit by Garcia then Garcia almost hit him head-on.

Documents say the officer then turned around, followed Garcia and was eventually able to pull him over.

The officer says there were open beer cans in Garcia’s car and that he refused to take field sobriety tests.

Garcia is charged with wanton endangerment, driving under the influence and fleeing and evading.
