LPD: Crash sends three to hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say three people were transported to area hospitals after they believe a car was speeding and ran a red light.

According to police, a car was speeding inbound on East Fourth Street, ran the red light at Martin Luther King Drive and then crashed into two other cars before coming to rest against a Kentucky Utilities power pole.

Police say one of the victim’s injuries appeared to be severe and they originally called for the Crash Reconstruction Unit to respond.

Police tell ABC 36 News, they called off the CRU team because the hospital notified them that the victim’s condition improved to serious, but stable.

The car that ran the red light struck a power pole with live wires, police say. The roadway will remain closed until Kentucky Utilities can check the pole and the wires.
