LPD: Burglary with shots fired was drug-related
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Lexington Police do not think an overnight break-in where shots were fired was random. They call it drug-related.
That has people who live on High Ridge Drive rattled.
The people who live in the neighborhood say it is quiet, peaceful. Many of them say they did not even realize what was going on outside their doors Friday morning.
“It’s disturbing on some levels,” Chant Bogucki said.
Lexington Police say around 1 a.m. someone broke into a home with three people inside, and fired shots.
“I think it’s endemic to what we live with today. Society, in my lifetime, the violence progresses,” Bogucki said.
He says the burglary makes him think of his two children.
“You just try to raise your kids the best you can and give them that clear sense of black and white, what’s right and what’s wrong,” Bogucki said.
Another man in the neighborhood says he is actually been house sitting, watering plants, getting the mail, and actually walking the dog early this morning when he says he saw a lot of police cars.
“I had no clue what was going on,” Richard Lanum said.
Still, he says he hurried back to the house.
He says he is done house sitting now and probably w ill not be back anytime soon. Bogucki says he is just disheartened, but still feels confident in the safety of his neighborhood.
“It is nothing that I don’t think our police force can’t handle or neighbors watching over each other’s property couldn’t handle,” Bogucki said.
Police say they are looking for a suspect. Luckily, no one was hurt.
