LPD: Burglar takes checks, leaves fingerprints

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police arrest a man in connection to burglaries at a Lexington office building.

Police say on April 12th an employee at Southern Life brokerage firm called to say when she got to work, she noticed the glass window on the front door was pushed in and the door was unlocked.

When she went inside, she saw items were moved around and someone drank a soft drink that was left in the office.

There were also fingerprints on the glass window.

According to court documents, one set of fingerprints belonged to 34-year-old Christopher Wells.

Documents also say that Wells took a checkbook from an employee at another business in the office building.

He then went to a bank and tried to cash one of the stolen checks made out for $350.

Documents say he left the check and his ID at the bank before it was cashed.
