Louisville Zoo holding contest for hippo name
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A 7-week-old pygmy hippo at the Louisville Zoo will soon have a name.
The zoo’s hippo keepers chose three names from among more than 2,500 that were submitted in a naming contest, and the public will vote for the final choice.
The finalists are Ace, Jahari and Kimani.
Zoo visitors can vote through Sunday for their favorite name by making a contribution in the voting kiosk on the zoo’s Front Plaza. The name that receives the highest amount will be given to the hippo and will be announced next week.
And the person who submitted the winning name gets a behind-the-scenes tour with the male baby hippo.
