Louisville Zoo has two new Koalas!
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Louisville Zoo is celebrating two adorable new arrivals—koalas Chuckels and Myalla.
The pair arrived in Louisville on Wednesday after being safely transported from the West Coast with the help of UPS. Mayor Craig Greenberg joined zoo officials in welcoming the animals, saying the duo is sure to delight the thousands of visitors who stop by each year.
Chuckels, a 10-year-old male who has fathered two joeys, and Myalla, a 6-year-old female with one joey, are currently settling into their new habitats. The zoo says they are housed separately for now, as koalas are territorial in the wild.
Guests will soon be able to see them up close, lounging and munching on eucalyptus—their main source of food.
