Louisville woman killed near a school; suspect at large
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Louisville Metro Police are searching for a suspect after a woman was shot and killed Wednesday morning near an elementary school.
It happened around 8 a.m. near Coleridge-Taylor Elementary, close to a school bus stop. Police say the victim was walking with a student when she was struck by gunfire. She was taken to UofL Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Investigators believe multiple shots were fired toward people waiting for school transportation. The school was placed on a brief lockdown but has since reopened.
This marks the second shooting in the same location in recent days. Police and Jefferson County Public Schools are working with students and families to address the impact of the violence.
