London police officer saves a life
The department says the call came in around 10:10 p.m. about someone on the KY 192 bridge. Officer Greg Turner arrived on the scene and says he discovered a man on the bridge who appeared to be attempting to jump off.
London Police Sgt. Richie Reynolds says, “Officer Turner spoke with the man in such a manner as to coax him off of the rail. Once the male put his foot on the ground, Officer Turner immediately went over and took physical control over him and took him to a safe and secure area. The man hugged Officer Turner and told him he owed him his life.”
According to London Police Chief Derek House, about 90 percent of the London Police Department have received crisis intervention training. He says he hopes to change that number to 100 percent.
