London Police: Man calls 911, asks to be arrested
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Kentucky man got what he asked for after he reportedly requested to be arrested at a Speedway gas station.
Police were sent out to the Speedway on KY 192 after receiving a 911 call early Tuesday morning. When they arrived, they say the caller, 36 year-old Charles W. Asher, told them he was high on meth, had been awake for 24 hours, and that people were following him and hiding in buses.
Officers say that Asher repeatedly asked to be arrested and displayed erratic behavior. Asher insisted that people were following him to the gas station, according to police, and even accused customers in the gas station parking lot including the arresting officer of following him.
Asher was arrested and charged with public intoxication, and buying or possessing drug paraphernalia, among other charges. He was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
