London PD: Two arrested with drugs, infant in car

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Officers in London have arrested a man and a woman after they say the two were found intoxicated in a car with a baby inside.

Officers say it happened on Tuesday when officers stopped a car with expired registration on West KY 192.

Officers say the driver of the car, 29-year-old Christopher L. Lawson, appeared impaired.  After he failed a sobriety test, police say he admitted he had snorted a Lortab earlier in the day, and had taken methamphetamine two days before.

April N. Hicks, 24, the passenger in the vehicle was also arrested on a bench warrant.  Police say the admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the traffic stop, and had used methamphetamine three days ago.

The two had a child under one year old in the car with them.

While searching the vehicle, police say they also found methamphetamine and a syringe in a diaper bag.

Both Hicks and Lawson were arrested and taken to the Laurel Co. Detention Center.

The infant was released to its grandmother.
