London PD: Semi-driver gets DUI when he hits, pushes parked car

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Officers say a Siler man is behind bars, charged with a DUI after hitting another car with his semi-truck while leaving a restaurant.

Police say they received a call at about 12:20 a.m., early Wednesday morning about a man who left the Old Town Grill while intoxicated, got into his semi-tractor and trailer and hit another car with two people inside, in the parking lot.

Reportedly, the driver 32-year-old Thomas A. Hensley, then backed his semi up, and hit the car again, pushing it sideways across the parking lot.

A witness told police he managed to get into the truck through the driver’s door and removed the keys from the ignition.

The man and the woman who were in the car were asleep at the time of the incident, telling police they had been traveling on I-75 and parked to rest.  No injuries were reported.

Arresting officers say Hensley was extremely intoxicated when they made contact with him.

He was arrested and charged with C.D.L. under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, wanton endangerment, and failure to maintain required insurance.

Hensley was was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
