London officer hurt during arrest

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) –   A police officer in London was hurt Saturday night while trying to arrest three people at a Wal-mart.

According to London Police, officers were dispatched to the shopping center for three men accused of shoplifting.

When police arrived, one of those men, 33-year-old Victor Blankenship from Ricetown, reportedly ran, leading officers into a wooded area behind the Wal-mart.

That’s where Officer Steven Sparks hurt his hand while Blankenship reportedly resisted arrest.

Sparks was treated at the hospital and released.

Blankenship faces several charges, including assaulting a police officer.

The two other men involved, Thomas and Trenton Hensley were charged with shoplifting under $500 dollars.
