London man arrested on drug and traffic charges after Friday night stop
LONDON, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A London man is facing multiple charges following a Friday night traffic stop that began after police observed his vehicle crossing the double yellow line several times. According to the London Police Department, officers stopped a red Chevrolet around 9:19 p.m. after the driver also made a turn without signaling.
Police identified the driver as 30-year-old Derek Mullins. He told officers he did not have proof of insurance and was operating on a suspended license. A records check confirmed Mullins’ license was suspended due to a third-offense DUI and that he had an active parole warrant.
When asked to step out of the vehicle, Mullins informed officers he had a needle in his pocket. A search revealed a needle loaded with a substance consistent with methamphetamine.
After completing standard field sobriety tests, Mullins was arrested and taken to the Laurel County Detention Center. He faces multiple charges, and the outstanding parole warrant was also served at the time of the arrest.
