Locust Trace, Leestown excel in FFA Bluegrass Region competition

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ/FAYETTE COUNTY SCHOOLS) – The FFA Bluegrass Region tallied several winners from Locust Trace AgriScience Center and Leestown Middle School in its 2020-21 contests.

According to Fayette County Schools, Locust Trace’s Ag Sales team placed second in their category; and among individual scores, Destiny was first and Haivan was runner-up.

Meanwhile, Leestown finished second in Ag Bowl with Jalen Ayers, Emily Boggs, Safiatou Landoure, and Evelin Lopez Xotlanhua; and Safiatou placed first among individuals.

Locust Trace teams also fared well in the regional quiz bowls.

Equine Bowl – first-place team (Makenzie Burdine, Mia Clemmons, A’Leah Tompkins, and Carrie Wagner)

• Individuals: Carrie, second; A’Leah, tied for third; Makenzie, fourth

Beef Bowl – third place (Nathan Clark, Destiny Eversole, Ana Saunders, and Elyssa Spiggle)

• Individuals: Nathan, tied for second

Poultry Bowl – third place (Mia Clemmons and Kennedy Little)
