Local Veteran Reaction To Shinseki Resignation

Some veterans in Central Kentucky say, if patient waiting lists are indeed tied to employee bonuses elsewhere, that’s something the staff should be held accountable for.

They said it’s particularly significant if it’s caused any death or suffering.

Veterans in Lexington say that does not happen here.

"The V.A. has been nothin’ but good to me. I’ve been going there years," said George Lee, U.S. Coast Guard veteran.  "They’ve taken cataracts taken off both eyes, and I had kidney failure about three years ago.  It almost killed me. The doctors are excellent they took care of me. Medications. No wait time," said Lee.

The local veteran’s hospital sent this statement to ABC 36 News Friday.

"At Lexington V.A. Medical Center, our focus is and will continue to be making sure veterans receive the quality care they have earned and deserve.  As V.A. employees we will continue to work to identify areas of improvement to deliver timely care to patients with compassion and integrity."
