Local school finishes first in Governor’s Cup for Region 22
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A local elementary school comes out on top for Governor’s Cup.
Rosa Parks elementary school was the evident winner in Region 22 of the Governor’s Cup.
The Governor’s Cup is an academic competition that was founded in 1986 to encourage excellence in the classroom.
The competition consists eight events including five written assessment exams, composition, future problem-solving, and quick recall quizzing.
Rosa Parks Elementary dominated in the 2018 Governor’s Cup Region 22 contest.
The elementary season ended on March 3 with Garden Springs Elementary receiving the Hume Sportsmanship Award.
Here is a list of local school standings in region 22: for the overall competition, Rosa Parks came in 1st, Wellington (2nd), Ashland (4th), Clays Mill (5th), Liberty (7th), Maxwell (8th), Garden Springs (9th), and Athens-Chilesburg (10th).
For future problem solving: Rosa Parks (1st), Clays Mill (2nd), and Ashland (3rd).
For quick recall: Rosa Parks (1st), Garden Springs (3rd), and Athens-Chilesburg (4th).
