Restaurant responds after customer mocks employee’s clothing

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Lexington restaurant is speaking out after a recent online review criticized one of its employees, calling him a “weird kid in a weird hat.”

In a Facebook post, Blue Door Smokehouse said the comment was unwarranted and did not reflect the employee’s character. The restaurant explained that the worker, Ashton, is a valued member of the team and that any misunderstanding with the customer was unintentional.

Management also said it was inappropriate for the reviewer to call the employee names or make fun of his clothing, adding that the staff works hard to provide quality food and service and that Ashton plays an important role in day-to-day operations.

Father Jim Sichko, known for his acts of kindness, also weighed in after seeing the post. On social media, he said he plans to stop by the restaurant and surprise Ashton with a $1,000 tip to lift his spirits.
