Local Organ Donor to be Featured in Rose Parade
Jeff Ballard of Mt. Sterling will have his portrait featured in the Rose Parade in Pasadena on New Year’s Day.
Ballard died in 1998 from a sudden aneurysm at a car show.
His family decided to donate his organs, which they say helped the lives of 49 people.
The float is for the Donate Life Campaign and will feature portraits of 81 organ donor from across the nation.
Each portrait is made of flower pieces,
Ballard’s mother and daughter were able to travel out to Pasadena to help work on the float and Ballarad’s portrait.
On Wednesday the Kentucky Organ Donor Association help a special ceremony to honor Ballard and his family.
Ballards family, KODA members and doctors at UK helped put the finishing touches on his portrait.
