Lincoln Birthplace marking National Park Service anniversary
HODGENVILLE, Ky. (AP) – The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace in central Kentucky is hosting an event later this month to mark the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service.
The Lincoln Birthplace in Hodgenville says in a news release that a living historian portraying President Woodrow Wilson will meet and talk with visitors during the Aug. 27 and 28 event. Wilson signed the Organic Act, which created the National Park Service, and the park’s enabling legislation.
A re-enactment of the park’s enabling legislation and Organic Act will be held.
Entrance fees are being waived nationwide from Aug. 25 to 28. Usually, 127 of the 412 national parks charge entrance fees ranging from $3 to $30.
