LIHEAP accepting applications
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Thousands of Central Kentucky families struggling to pay for heat this winter can now get help.
The Community Action Council is taking applications for its Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
The program provides a one-time benefit to eligible households to cover energy bills. The amount of assistance depends on income, housing size, housing type, and location.
The Community Action Council says those looking to participate do not have to show proof of overdue bills, home ownership or pay their energy bills directly. The deadline to sign up is December 13th.
To schedule an appointment, go to their website or call (859) 300-6960. Each appointment will be scheduled between the hours of 8:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. on the following days at various Community Action Council locations:
LEXINGTON
913 Georgetown St., Lexington (Monday – Friday)
1169 Winburn Dr., Lexington (Monday, Thursday)
1902 Cambridge Dr., Lexington (Monday, Thursday)
520 Toner St., Lexington (Monday, Thursday)
PARIS
1414 South Main St., Paris (Monday – Friday)
CYNTHIANA
216 Old Lair Rd., Cynthiana (Monday – Friday)
CARLISLE
2323 Concrete Rd., Suite A, Carlisle (Monday – Friday)
To apply, applicants are asked to bring the following:
- Proof of Social Security number for each member of the household.
- Proof of income for the previous month for all adults 18 and older in the household.
- Most recent heating bill or verification from a landlord that heating expenses are included in rent.
- Birth dates of all household members.
- Photo identification of the applicant.
