LG&E and KU Chairman announces retirement

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The long-time chairman and chief operating officer of Louisville Gas & Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company has announced he is retiring.

Victor A. Staffieri announced Monday he plans to retire March 8.

Paul Thompson, who was named president and chief operating officer in January 2017, will succeed Staffieri.

Staffieri took over the state’s largest utility in 2001. According to a press release sent by LG&E and KU, Staffieri guided the company through the largest construction program in its history and over the last 17 years, it has tripled in size

Thompson, who joined LG&E in 1991, is currently responsible for the overall, day-to-day operations of the company, according to the press release.

Paul Thompson will be succeeding Victor A. Staffieri.
