LFD: Man detained after trying to put out fire

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Firefighters say they had to detain a man, and put a fire out Tuesday at a home on Blackford Parkway.

Firefighters say they were called to the home around 11:30 a.m. They say they detained a man after he was trying to put the fire in the garage out by himself. Charges will not be filed.

The department says he was later taken to UK Hospital because he breathed in a lot of smoke.

Firefighters say all the damage was in the back of the house. They are trying to determine if the fire started in the garage or the living area. They say the house has an open floor plan, allowing the fire to spread.

They say there is moderate damage, but should be livable after it is cleaned up.
