LFD: Lightning strike blamed for house fire
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A house fire in Lexington Thursday afternoon was caused by a lightning strike, according to the Lexington Fire Department.
Investigators say it happened as storms moved through the area around 4:20 p.m.
Firefighters say the fire began in the attic of a home in the 400 block of Queensway Drive. They say the fire was confined to the attic, but there was some smoke and water damage throughout the house.
The fire was quickly extinguished, according to firefighters.
There were four people in the home at the time of the lightning strike and following fire, but all of them got out safely, according to investigators.
