LFD: Landscapers Rupture Gas Line At Cardinal Hill Hospital

A landscaping crew working outside of Cardinal Hill Hospital in Lexington ruptured a 3-to-4 inch gas line, which led to the evacuation of a few workers as a precaution, according to the Lexington Fire Department.

It happened just before 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Firefighters said no patients or patient care staff were affected or ever in any danger.

Columbia Gas was called to the scene to begin repairing the damaged line.

Firefighters used fans to ventilate the section of the building affected by the gas leak and air quality levels were constantly being monitored.
