LFD: House fire causes attic damage
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Fire crews say they were called around 3:30 a.m. in reference to a small fire on Meadow Lane.
According to Lexington Firefighters, a man inside the home says he heard electrical flickering and found a small fire inside the attic around the electrical box for the bathroom fan.
They say the man put the fire out on his own, but smelled smoke afterwards and then called 9-1-1.
Crews say the fire caused damage inside the attic.
They say the man wasn’t injured and will be okay.
Lexington Fire Major Maria Roberts says you should be aware and always call 9-1-1 whenever a fire ignites inside an attic.
” Anytime you’ve got any kind of fire in you’re home, you should always call the fire department,” said Roberts.” Because especially when you’re talking about an attic, it can spread in any insulation without you even knowing it.”
