LFD battling fire at ‘The Thoroughbred Center’
Lexington firefighters are battling a large fire at “The Thoroughbred Center” Wednesday morning.
Fire officials say they saw flames and heavy smoke shooting out of the building when they first arrived on the scene on the 3300 block of Paris Pike around 8:20 a.m.
Fire crews on the scene upgraded the fire to a second alarm, bringing in more firefighters and units to the scene.
As of 9:30 a.m., the fire department says there are over 63 firefighters and 32 units are on the scene working to battle the fire.
Battalion Chief Joe Best tells ABC 36 News that there is a 50 gallon drum of oil in one of the buildings on fire. He says there is a hazmat crew is on the way to the scene.
One person was injured in the fire, but their injuries are non-life threatening, the fire department says.
