Lexington’s ‘Race Street Riders’ begin lessons
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A new non-profit organization is giving inner city kids a chance to learn all about Kentucky’s pride and joy: horses.
Friday evening, Race Street Riders had its first lesson at Masterson Station Park.
The young riders, from Harrison Elementary, learned how to take care of, and get on, horses.
Founder Brie Thompson says helping underprivileged children do something they normally wouldn’t get to experience, is a passion.
Thompson says the five children are the first group of Race Street Riders, but they certainly won’t be the last.
The children will have four weeks of lessons. Next week, they will begin learning to ride the horses.
