Lexington woman pleads not guilty in Bryan Station Road murder case
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A woman charged with murder in a deadly Sunday night shooting on Bryan Station Road has pleaded not guilty.
According to court records, 30-year-old Keaira Pennie appeared Tuesday via Zoom from the Fayette County Detention Center for her arraignment. She entered a not guilty plea to a murder charge and is being held on a $150,000 bond. Her next court date is scheduled for August 20 at 8:30 a.m.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 42-year-old Edwin Haddix of Lexington. The coroner said Haddix died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police say the shooting happened around 11:55 p.m. on August 10 in the 1700 block of Bryan Station Road. Officers found Haddix with a gunshot wound; he was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators say Pennie was arrested a short time later. Personal Crimes detectives are continuing to investigate.
