Lexington woman due in court after hit-and-run involving child
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Lexington woman is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon following a hit-and-run crash that injured a child over the weekend.
According to police, 31-year-old Sierra Smith is accused of hitting a child with her vehicle and leaving the scene just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Marcellus Drive. The child was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say they were able to locate Smith and her vehicle using the department’s Real-Time Intelligence Center. She was later arrested and faces multiple charges, including leaving the scene of an accident, tampering with physical evidence, and drug possession.
Smith’s arraignment is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday.
