Lexington woman celebrates 100th birthday filled with faith, family, and adventure
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Lexington woman is celebrating a century of life, reflecting on a journey full of faith, family, and unforgettable adventures.
Jean Haney turned 100 years old this week. Born in Science Hill in 1925, Haney graduated from high school during World War II and went on to raise three children in Somerset.
Her life has taken her far beyond Kentucky—across the country on Greyhound buses, on family cruises, and even to Africa to visit her daughter serving in the Peace Corps.
“I’m just thankful to have lived such a good life and such friends and such a wonderful family,” Haney said. “It’s still going on. But now after today, I’m going to go back just to being Jean Haney from Somerset, Kentucky.”
Haney’s milestone birthday was celebrated in the Woodford Room at Cedarhurst, with music, refreshments, and heartfelt tributes from friends and family members.
