Lexington VAMC: Thank veterans via Facebook
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Lexington VA Medical Center is inviting the community to post thank you notes to veterans via Facebook.
Director Emma Metcalf sent out the following letter ahead of Veterans Day:
Veterans Day is a national day of recognition where we take time to honor Americans who have served this country in the armed forces. November 11 was originally called Armistice Day because it was on this day in 1918 that the First World War came to an end. The armistice was signed at 11:00A, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of the year. After four years of brutal trench fighting, nine million soldiers had died and 21 million were wounded.
The price of freedom is visible at the Lexington VA Medical Center, where we have the privilege of caring for our nation’s patriots by providing for their health care needs. We invite you to join us in remembering and thanking all of our brave men and women who have given themselves in service to others by posting a special “thank you” at www.facebook.com/VALexington.
